A man was shot and killed yesterday after refusing to drop his gun, according to CMPD.
At about 9am, police were called to a Burger King off Beatties Ford Road near the intersection of I-85 in response to an armed man on the premises.
When police arrived, they approached a man who they said had a gun, told him to drop his weapon multiple times, then shot him.
Chief Putney said officers encountered the armed man and repeatedly ordered him to drop his gun. The subject was rushed to the hospital and has since died. Internal and criminal investigations are ongoing.
