Late last night a major “pin-in” multi-car accident completely shut down all northbound lanes on I-85.
According to the West Mecklenburg Fire Department, the tragic wreck began just past Exit 26 near Belmont Abbey College when 1 car was ‘pinned-in’ by a larger vehicle, and subsequently caused 5 other vehicles to crash into them with a total of 7 vehicles being involved in the wreck.
There have now been 6 people transported to the hospital with various levels of injuries.
All lanes of I-85 have now been reopened.
