Charlotte’s luxury housing market has reached another milestone after a private island estate on Lake Norman sold for a record-breaking $15.25 million, the highest home sale ever recorded in the Charlotte region.
The property, known as Regatta Island, is located in Cornelius and spans 3.04 acres with approximately 1,250 feet of Lake Norman shoreline. The estate sold for $15.25 million, surpassing the recent $15 million sale of the late Doug Lebda’s Quail Hollow mansion.
The home was listed in April for $18.999 million by Ivester Jackson, making it the most expensive single-family home ever listed in the Charlotte market.
The home sits on a 3.04-acre private island with roughly 1,250 feet of shoreline.

It was completed in 2024 and includes more than 12,000 square feet of living space.

Inside, the house features 6 bedrooms, 9 bathrooms, multiple living areas, and a full secondary living quarters.

The property also includes an 8-car garage, a private dock with multiple lifts, and a pool overlooking the lake.

Other features include an elevator, multiple HVAC systems, backup generators, and high-end appliances. In other words, it has everything you would expect for the price of roughly 40 average Charlotte homes.
The record-setting sale reflects a broader shift across Charlotte’s housing market.
Median home prices across the region now hover just below $500,000, while luxury homes around Lake Norman and South Charlotte continue reaching unprecedented values. At the same time, inventory remains limited, keeping upward pressure on prices. Even new townhome developments are now launching in Charlotte with prices starting around 1 million dollars each.
The contrast illustrates Charlotte’s growing housing divide. On one end of the market are multimillion-dollar private islands. On the other, many buyers are struggling to find homes under $500,000.
