Grocery giant Kroger has just announced plans to build a sprawling new high-tech fulfillment center in Concord. The new facility will create an estimated 700 new jobs over the next five years.
“The acceleration of our delivery business continues with the development of an additional customer fulfillment center, advancing our commitment to creating career opportunities and serving shoppers fresh food fast through interconnected, automated, and innovative facilities and last-mile solutions across America,” said Gabriel Arreaga, Kroger’s senior vice president and chief supply chain officer.

The new jobs will have an average salary of $42,000. The total payroll impact on our region is expected to exceed $29 million, according to the NC Department of Commerce.
The new plan will be facilitated by North Carolina’s Job Development Investment Grant (JDIG). State officials estimate that the new facility will grow our overall economy by just over $820 million.
