JDRF’s North Carolina Chapter will highlight the “Unstoppable” type 1 diabetes (T1D) community at the 2022 Charlotte Hope Gala.

Chaired by Angie and Anders Persson, whose 19-year-old son, Sven, was diagnosed with T1D at the age of 13, the Gala will take place at The Westin Charlotte on Saturday, April 30. Emcees will be Matt Harris and Ramona Holloway of “The Matt & Ramona Show” on Mix 107.9.

“After hosting the Gala virtually for two years, it will be wonderful to be back together in the ballroom,” said Angie Persson. “Anders and I—along with our entire Gala Committee—look forward to being with hundreds of others who are eager to help JDRF find cures for type 1 diabetes.”

Although the Hope Gala was held virtually in 2021, it raised an astonishing $1.6 million for T1D research. This year, the goal is to match (or exceed) those results.

Witnessing the tremendous T1D research advancements that have been announced over the past two years, Anders Persson urged people across the Greater Western Carolinas region to support this work. He said, “We have the power to improve the lives of millions of families affected by T1D. Now is the time to participate… now is the time to dig deep…now is the time to give…now is the time to advance diabetes research!”
