Evangeline’s Stocking Drive is a Marvin, North Carolina based charity that, last year, provided 700 stockings to Children’s Hospitals in Charlotte, North Carolina and New York City during the Christmas season. The stocking drive was started in 2019 by 4 year-old Evangeline Dusenberry and her family after Evangeline received treatment in the Charlotte Children’s Hospital for a severe and unidentified virus that caused double pneumonia and acute kidney failure among many dangerous side effects. Now, Eva is on the road to recovery. But during her family’s stay at the hospital, they saw countless children who had been there for many months, who they knew could use some happiness during holidays and special occasions.
This year, they are holding another stocking drive, but due to COVID-19 are collecting funds for stockings rather than stocking supplies. Their new plan is to raise funds to deliver over 1000 stockings directly to hospitals from suppliers, in order to meet hospital safety requirements.
On Sunday, Evangeline’s Stocking Drive launched a GoFundMe campaign to raise $35,000 to support the purchase and delivery of 1000 stockings to children’s hospitals around the Charlotte region.
