Charlotte Water has just officially lifted the city-wide boil water advisory after Monday’s massive water main rupture.
According to a press release from the city, Charlotte Water has now tested samples from 260 fire hydrants and 104 other locations and found that the water now meets all required water quality standards.

“I wanted to thank the public for their patience and understanding as Charlotte Water has worked through this historic event,” said Angela Charles, Charlotte Water Director. “We understand this was a challenging time for our customers and we appreciate your support and trust in our system and team. Charlotte Water is reviewing this incident for improvement opportunities including customer communications.”
If you’re still concerned about the drinking water in your home, you can use a drinking water test kit and install a reverse osmosis filtration system if any significant level of contaminants are found.
