Charlotte Unveils New Plans For Futuristic $11 Million Pedestrian Bridge Over 277

Charlotte City Planners just unveiled a radical new design for the highly anticipated pedestrian bridge over I-277 that will eventually link South End with Uptown.

According to the Charlotte’s official Rail Trail Bridge page, “This project will provide a new bicycle and pedestrian connection over I-277 from the CATS Blue Line Stonewall Station to where the existing Rail Trail ends under the East Morehead Street bridge, north of Carson Street. The project will seamlessly provide Rail Trail users direct access to and from Center City and South End.” 

The new project overview includes an overall budget of $11 million and a project completion date of Spring 2025.
