How To Connect to a Working Minecraft Server?

0

Minecraft has captured the hearts of millions of players worldwide. The blocky world offers endless possibilities for creativity and adventure. But playing alone can get lonely sometimes. That’s where multiplayer servers come in, offering shared experiences with friends and strangers alike.

Its servers are just computers running special software. They host virtual worlds where many players can build and explore together. Some servers focus on survival gameplay. Others emphasize creative building or competitive mini-games. The variety is quite amazing. Finding a server that matches your interests makes all the difference.

How to Find the Right Minecraft Server

Server communities each have their own culture. Some are family-friendly, while others cater to older players. Besides gameplay, the community vibe will shape your experience. This is why choosing the correct server matters so much.

The Minecraft server list websites are your best friends because they contain thousands of active servers. The directories usually show player counts and brief descriptions. This way, you can browse options before committing to one.

Besides that, popular server list sites let players vote for their favorites. The voting system helps quality servers rise to the top. You can sort them by category, version, or popularity. This makes finding your perfect match much more straightforward.

In addition, server descriptions tell you what to expect. They mention gameplay modes and unique features. Moreover, many include screenshots of impressive builds, so these visual previews give you a feel for the server’s style.

Connecting to Your Chosen Server

The actual connection process is surprisingly simple. Minecraft’s multiplayer menu provides everything you will need. You’ll just need to correctly enter the server address; it typically looks like words are followed by numbers.
Also, typing errors cause most connection failures, so double-check each character in the address. Even tiny mistakes will prevent connection. So take your time when entering the information.

Some servers require specific Minecraft versions. That’s why you must ensure your game version matches the server’s needs. Your Minecraft launcher will allow you to switch between versions easily.

First-time connections might feel intimidating, but the server might have custom resource packs or mods. You’ll usually receive prompts to download these automatically.

Making the Most of Your Server Experience

Learning server commands will help your experience tremendously. Most servers use similar basic commands. So, typing “/help” usually displays available options, and this knowledge empowers you to navigate the server world effectively. Server rules exist for everyone’s enjoyment. So, take a moment to read them when you join. Breaking the rules might actually get you banned.

You must also know how to build relationships where there is fun. Minecraft communities can form friendships that extend beyond the game. Your effort to be friendly and helpful pays off in collaborative projects.

Many servers host special events and competitions. These gatherings bring the community together for unique experiences.

Final Thoughts

The multiplayer Minecraft experience offers something truly special. There’s nothing quite like it. The shared adventures create gaming memories that last for years.

SC Man Was Just Executed by Firing Squad For The First Time In America Since 2010

0

Brad Sigmon, a 67-year-old South Carolina inmate, was executed by firing squad on Friday, March 7, marking the first execution of its kind in the U.S. in 15 years. The South Carolina Department of Corrections (SCDC) confirmed his death at Broad River Correctional Institution in Columbia at 6:08 p.m.

Sigmon was sentenced to death in 2002 for the 2001 murders of David and Gladys Larke, his ex-girlfriend’s parents, in their Greenville County home. Prosecutors said he bludgeoned them to death as part of a failed plan to kidnap their daughter and take her on a trip before killing her and himself, according to the AP.

Sigmon’s lawyers argued that he chose the firing squad over the electric chair and lethal injection, fearing inhumane suffering. His execution was only the fourth by firing squad in the U.S. since 1977, with the last occurring in Utah in 2010. South Carolina re-legalized the firing squad 3 years ago by signing SB 200.

A group of protesters gathered outside the prison before the execution, holding signs that read, “All life is precious” and “Execute justice, not people.” Sigmon’s legal team and supporters had urged Gov. Henry McMaster to commute his sentence, citing his remorse, good behavior in prison, and struggles with severe mental illness.

Despite appeals, the execution proceeded, reviving debates over capital punishment and the methods used to carry it out.

Myrtle Beach Woman Arrested for Starting 2,000-Acre South Carolina Wildfire

0

Police have just arrested a Myrtle Beach woman in connection with the Covington Drive Fire, which has now burned over 2,000 acres in South Carolina.

SC Forestry Commission officials took 40-year-old Alexandra Bialousow into custody on Thursday, March 6, charging her with two offenses related to an escaped yard debris burn.

Investigators say Bialousow failed to take proper precautions, allowing the fire to spread to nearby properties. Witnesses reported seeing her ignite a backyard fire pit near a tree line in the Covington Lakes Subdivision on March 1. According to the arrest warrant, she had no water source readily available and lacked the necessary tools to control the flames. As a result, the fire spread onto land owned by Walker Woods HOA, witnesses told officials.

Bialousow faces charges under South Carolina Code of Laws:

  • Negligently Allowing Fire to Spread to Another’s Property (Section 16-11-180): Punishable by five to thirty days in jail or a fine between $25 and $200.
  • Starting a Fire Without Proper Precautions (Section 48-35-10): A first offense carries a fine of up to $200 or imprisonment of up to thirty days.

Firefighters Gaining Control

As of Friday morning, the Myrtle Beach wildfire was more than 50% contained, according to Horry County fire officials. Crews focused on reinforcing firebreaks, wetting the ground, and deploying sprinklers where needed. Rainfall on Wednesday helped reduce flames, and officials expect favorable weather conditions Friday with calmer winds. The next chance for rain in the Myrtle Beach area arrives Sunday night into Monday.

Fire officials continue working to fully extinguish the blaze while authorities urge residents to follow proper fire safety precautions to prevent future wildfires.

Charlotte Ranked As The 4th Best Large Metro for Women in Tech

0

Working in tech as a woman can be a challenge, but nonetheless, more women are making their way into this male-dominant field.

Unsurprisingly, location plays an important role in closing the gender gap in tech, but which metros are prime options for women searching tech jobs?

CoworkingCafe unveiled the best metros for women in tech, based on a series of metrics that include earnings, unemployment, and health insurance coverage rate, among other criteria. For a fair comparison, we also split the metros into three population brackets— large, mid-sized, and small.

Here are our findings regarding Charlotte:

  • Charlotte snatched 4th place in our large metro ranking, establishing itself as a prime location for women in the tech sector;
  • With 33% of tech workers being women, Charlotte brags the 3rd largest number of women working in this industry;
  • The metro also offers loads of opportunities in tech, boasting 29.3 jobs out of 1,000 in this sector — this places Charlotte in 8th place for this specific metric;
  • Earnings for female tech workers have seen a 20% increase from 2019 until 2023, reaching a median income of $85,430 per year;
  • Charlotte also ensures job stability by offering 58% of female workers healthcare insurance.

Two other North Carolina gems made their way into the top — Raleigh snatched 5th place in the large metro section, while Durham took the crown in the mid-sized category.

I-85 Is the North Carolina Rush Hour Route Most Likely to Prompt Commuters to Rethink Their Lives

0

Down in Miami, some stretches of the I-95 are essentially a daily parking lot, with heavy commuter and tourist traffic snarling its lanes. Drivers bake under the Florida sun as they ponder why they didn’t take the train – or even a jet ski – to work. All over the country, people stuck in these infamous backups turn to podcasts or catch up on phone calls to kill time. But once the distractions dry up, they’re often left alone with their own thoughts, mulling over some of life’s heaviest questions.

Potamkin just ran a poll of 3,004, asking drivers one simple question: which rush hour stretch makes you rethink your whole life?

The top 3 spots in North Carolina were:

#1 I-85 (Greensboro, “Death Valley” segment around I-40)

In Greensboro, where I-85 and I-40 join briefly, rush hour can be a chaotic crawl. Merging traffic from two interstates and local exits creates a stew of brake lights on the loop around the city, and it’s during these slowdowns that reflection kicks in. Maybe you think, “If I’m going to sit in traffic, maybe I should have moved to the bigger city with more jobs anyway.” Or, conversely, “This city’s growing too fast – time to find a quieter corner of Carolina.” The mind ping-pongs as you tap your brakes.

#2 I-77 (Charlotte, from Uptown to Lake Norman)

Charlotte’s I-77 north corridor is legendary for its rush-hour gridlock, so much that controversial toll lanes were added (and even those can get jammed). The stretch from Uptown Charlotte past the I-85 interchange up toward Lake Norman often turns into a slow-moving parking deck. Evening commuters routinely slog at single-digit speeds, staring at the same skyscraper on the horizon that never seems to get closer. In those painful moments, minds wander: “Should I keep this job in the city, or find something closer to Mooresville?” By the time you finally reach your exit – knuckles unwhitening from the death grip on the wheel – you might have gone through a full life audit.

#3 I-40 (Raleigh, from RTP through South Saunders St.)

The Research Triangle Park area pumps a lot of cars onto I-40, and each rush hour this interstate in Raleigh turns into a linear convention of frustrated biotech and IT workers. The westbound morning/eastbound evening crunch between RTP (Durham/Chapel Hill) and Raleigh often resembles a rolling science experiment in human patience. At its worst near South Saunders or Wade Avenue, you might sit long enough to count every pine tree by the roadside. It’s common to see folks glancing at the nearby parallel NC-54 or US-70 and debating if taking those would’ve been better – a metaphor for alternate life paths if ever there was one.

The top five spots nationally turned out to be all New York and New Jersey routes. No shock there, really!

#1 I-95/New Jersey Turnpike (Newark to George Washington Bridge), New Jersey

This chunk of road is the East Coast’s traffic torture chamber. Heading toward the George Washington Bridge in Fort Lee, it’s regularly crowned the worst traffic chokehold in the country. Down by Newark, where the Turnpike’s car and truck lanes mash together, it’s pure chaos. Picture multiple lanes of cars, trucks, and buses all elbowing for space, only to slam to a standstill as they squeeze toward the bridge. New Jersey drivers stuck in this mess often find themselves wondering big things: Why shell out steep tolls for this headache? Could I just paddle across the Hudson instead? With hours lost here every year, there’s plenty of time to rethink everything.

#2 I-495 Long Island Expressway (Queens & Long Island), New York

Running from the Queens-Midtown Tunnel out through Nassau and Suffolk, this is Long Island’s lifeline – and it’s usually jammed up tight. During rush hour, especially around Queens and western Nassau, the LIE slows to a pace so sluggish it’s a running local gag. Drivers get literal hours to stare at the bumper sticker on the car ahead and chew over their lives. Maybe the whole Long Island deal – big house, grassy yard, brutal commute – starts to feel shaky. Is it worth slogging home every night behind a landscaping truck just for that? Some dream of swapping it all for a tiny place in Manhattan: no lawn, sure, but also no marathon crawl to go 20 miles.

#3 I-95 Cross Bronx Expressway (Bronx), New York

The Cross Bronx is one of the kings of traffic nightmares. Often called the most jammed-up road in the U.S., this short piece of I-95 hauls cars to and from the George Washington Bridge through a sunken slice of the Bronx. Calling it an “expressway” feels like a sick joke – during rush hour (and most hours, frankly), it’s a honking, stressful standstill. The delays here hit so hard that people start rethinking their entire existence. Sitting under graffiti-covered overpasses, you wonder why you’re paying sky-high New York rent to rot in your car. Some toy with escaping the city for good. Others, creeping along in fits and starts, mull wild career switches – maybe driving a cab at night would at least keep them moving. But dodging it’s nearly impossible for most New Yorkers, so the dread just keeps simmering. The Cross Bronx doesn’t just delay you – it makes you question your whole path.

#4 I-278 Brooklyn-Queens Expressway (BQE, Gowanus to Kosciuszko Bridge), New York

The BQE keeps Brooklyn and Queens connected, but it’s a daily grind. The stretch under Brooklyn Heights – tucked beneath that triple-decker setup – and up through Williamsburg to the new Kosciuszko Bridge is a slow-motion disaster. Narrow lanes, potholes, and way more cars than its 1940s designers ever dreamed of make it a perfect mess. Rush hour here gives you all the time in the world to study the graffiti overhead and rethink your life. Peeking at the Manhattan skyline as you inch along, you might wonder, “Why not the West Coast? Sure, they’ve got traffic, but at least it’s not freezing.”

#5 NJ-495 (Lincoln Tunnel Approach), New Jersey

The haul from the NJ Turnpike to the Lincoln Tunnel is short but brutal, earning a rep as one of the East Coast’s most packed stretches. Buses zip by in their special lane while everyone else stews in bumper-to-bumper hell, half-tempted to ditch their car for a bus seat next time. The crawl is so maddening you start questioning every choice that led you here – why did driving in ever seem smart? Maybe a job in Hoboken would spare you the Hudson crossing. Or working remote from some quiet spot in Hunterdon County? By the time you hit the tunnel tolls, you’ve probably mapped out a whole new life just to dodge this slog.

This Morning’s Storms Uproot Trees and Cut Power w/ Possible Tornado in Union County

0

A powerful line of thunderstorms swept through the Charlotte region this morning, uprooting trees, knocking out power for thousands, and potentially touching down a tornado in Union County.

Emergency responders are assessing the storm’s impact specifically along Friendly Baptist Church Road in Unionville, where reports indicate structural damage and the strong likelihood of a tornado touchdown.

Union County Emergency Management activated its emergency operations center to coordinate response efforts. Fortunately, no injuries have been reported at this time.

There are currently over 14,000 Duke customers without power, according to their outage map.

Historical National Weather Service data shows Union County has experienced strong tornadoes before, including EF-4 storms in 1920 and 1989.

While today’s system was weaker, officials warn that severe weather remains a risk for the region. Updates will be provided as assessments continue.

Trump Administration Unveils Sweeping Property ‘Disposal’ List – Including 8 Buildings in The Carolinas

0

Yesterday, the Trump administration published a list of more than 400 federal properties it deemed “not core to government operations,” ready for ‘disposal’. The list, released Tuesday by the General Services Administration (GSA), included high-profile buildings such as the FBI headquarters, the Department of Justice main building, and numerous historic federal agency offices.

According to a press release, “GSA will consider non-core assets for divestment from government ownership in an orderly fashion to ensure taxpayers no longer pay for empty and underutilized federal office space, or the significant maintenance costs associated with long-term building ownership — potentially saving more than $430 million in annual operating costs.”

The federal building sell-off is part of a broader effort by tech billionaire Elon Musk to downsize the federal government. Musk’s ‘Department of Government Efficiency’ (DOGE) claims to have saved $105 billion, however, the actual savings on the DOGE website currently only add up to $10.3 billion in total.

Less than 24 hours after publishing the federal property ‘disposal’ list, however, the GSA removed it entirely from its website, replacing it with a message stating that a new list was “coming soon.” The agency has not provided an explanation for the abrupt removal or responded to requests for comment.

Yesterday’s list included the following buildings (including 3 buildings in North Carolina and 5 in South Carolina):

$16 Million Futuristic Pedestrian Bridge Set To Unite Uptown and South End

0

The City of Charlotte approved a long-anticipated contract to start construction on a pedestrian bridge connecting Uptown and South End.

The council recently approved a $16 million construction contract with Blythe Construction, Inc., bringing the transformative project closer to reality after years of delays.

The pedestrian bridge will span 280 feet across Interstate 277, connecting the CATS Brooklyn Village Station in Council District 1. Designed as a 16-foot-wide concrete path, it will accommodate both pedestrians and cyclists, offering a safer, seamless link along the Rail Trail. The project aims to unite two of Charlotte’s most vibrant neighborhoods, enhancing connectivity while reducing competition for nightlife and office tenants.

Work will also include grading and retaining wall construction to support the bridge’s infrastructure. Once completed, it will offer direct access between Center City and South End, improving safety and accessibility for Rail Trail users.

Funding for the project comes from a collaboration among the Charlotte Regional Transportation Planning Organization, the North Carolina Department of Transportation (NCDOT), Mecklenburg County, and private contributors. Following an Invitation to Bid issued on October 24, 2024, four bids were received, and Blythe Construction emerged as the lowest responsive, responsible bidder.

NCDOT must review and approve the contract before construction can begin. According to the city council agenda, the bridge is now expected to be completed by the second quarter of 2028.

Charlotte’s FFM Gala Brings in National Leaders For Reentry Programs and Housing

0

Freedom Fighting Missionaries (FFM), a Charlotte-based reentry organization that has garnered national attention for its groundbreaking programs and funding, just held its 4th Annual Gala with almost 800 attendees, bringing together activists, policymakers, and community leaders in support of formerly incarcerated individuals.

The event, themed Celebrating Women in the Movement, featured civil rights icon Angela Davis as keynote speaker, alongside Congresswoman Jasmine Crockett, Dr. Topeka Sam, lobbyist Kristie Williams, and Sheena Meade, CEO of The Clean Slate Initiative. Charlotte City Councilwoman Dr. Tiawana Brown, the first formerly incarcerated person to serve on the council, delivered the gala’s opening remarks.

“This gala was more than just a celebration—it was a powerful statement about progress and possibility,” said Dr. Kenneth “Kenny” Robinson, president and founder of Freedom Fighting Missionaries. “Having Angela Davis, a symbol of resilience and justice, stand with us as we continue breaking barriers was an unforgettable moment. The funds raised will go directly toward ensuring that those reentering society have not just resources but a real foundation for success, including stable housing. We are not just talking about change; we are building it—literally—with our upcoming affordable housing complex.”

The gala raised $72,000 through donations and sponsorships, with proceeds supporting FFM’s reentry services and its groundbreaking affordable housing project, set to break ground this summer. This initiative marks a historic milestone, as FFM becomes the first Black-founded reentry organization in Charlotte to purchase land and develop housing specifically for justice-involved individuals and their families.

During the event, FFM debuted a powerful video to supporters, originally produced by Cash App Communities, highlighting the journey of a justice-involved mother of eight working toward stability with FFM’s support. The video, first released during the holidays, has since garnered over 4 million views on YouTube, amplifying the organization’s impact on a national scale.

With momentum from the gala, Freedom Fighting Missionaries continues to break barriers, providing essential services such as ID assistance, employment support, and housing solutions to individuals navigating reentry. The organization’s upcoming housing complex will offer 24 units designed to serve families, ensuring access to stable housing as they rebuild their lives.

About Freedom Fighting Missionaries

Freedom Fighting Missionaries is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization founded by Kenneth “Kenny” Robinson to assist formerly incarcerated and criminal justice-involved persons with reentry by achieving self-sufficiency through sustainable services and resources.
