Multiple Charlotte-Area Schools Locked Down After Numerous Bomb and Weapon Threats

Several Charlotte-area schools faced bomb threats, lockdowns, and an armed-person report Wednesday, prompting police responses across three communities.

Authorities have not said the incidents were connected.

Schools affected included:

  • Kings Mountain High School — evacuated after a reported bomb threat.
  • Kings Mountain Middle School — placed on lockdown as a precaution.
  • Kings Mountain Intermediate School — also locked down during the investigation.
  • North Iredell High School — locked down after a report of a bomb in the parking lot.
  • Agriculture and Science Early College — locked down during the same Iredell County response.
  • Salisbury High School — placed in hold-and-teach status after reports of a nearby armed man.

In Kings Mountain, police received the threat around 1:37 p.m. Students were moved to the football field while officers searched campus.

Police later cleared the buildings, and normal dismissal procedures resumed. The threat remains under investigation.

In Iredell County, two schools went into lockdown shortly before 2 p.m. Deputies searched the parking areas before lifting the lockdown before 3:30 p.m.

Meanwhile, Salisbury police responded around 1:57 p.m. after residents reported a man carrying a gun near the high school.

Officers detained the man within 13 minutes, and the school returned to normal operations.

No charges had been filed in the Salisbury case as of Wednesday.
