A 22-year-old man with a permanent lifetime ban from Walmart was just arrested for the theft of nearly $1,900 in video games. Police say the incident happened Wednesday at the Walmart Supercenter in Locust.
The store sits on West Main Street, about 25 miles northeast of uptown Charlotte. Court documents say anti-shoplifting devices had been removed from the merchandise.
Locust police identified the suspect as Henderson. Authorities say he already had a permanent ban from all Walmart locations.
Investigators also say Henderson had five active felony warrants for similar alleged offenses in other jurisdictions. Officers took him to the Stanly County Jail following the arrest.
He was served with warrants for felony larceny and attempted larceny. Police also charged him with misdemeanor trespassing because of the existing Walmart ban.
The unusual case drew attention because of the lifetime ban and the additional outstanding warrants. The charges remain allegations, and Henderson is presumed innocent unless proven guilty.
