Charlotte has landed another major victory over the Research Triangle, convincing a global manufacturer to move its American headquarters from Chapel Hill to the Queen City.

Global building materials manufacturer Armacell has officially relocated its Americas headquarters to Charlotte’s SouthPark area after operating in Chapel Hill since late 2015.

The company, which manufactures foam products for the equipment insulation industry, signed a seven-year lease for a 4,541-square-foot office at Carnegie X and moved into the new space earlier this month.

Company officials said Charlotte’s central location, extensive highway network, and access to Charlotte Douglas International Airport made the city an ideal base for its North American operations. The move also places the company closer to key industrial and manufacturing markets.

Armacell said the SouthPark office provides better access to talent while bringing key leadership teams together to improve collaboration, customer engagement, and future growth.

The relocation marks another corporate win for Charlotte as it continues attracting headquarters and major employers from across the Southeast.
