17th Annual Charlotte Film Festival Returning in 2 Weeks

The Charlotte Film Festival (CFF) will be returning to the Queen City next week for its 17th year, bringing a diverse array of films and filmmakers from around the world to The Independent Picture House (IPH).

Running from September 23 through September 28, 2025,the Festival will feature a lineup of more than 130 films representing 21 countries (including Argentina, Australia, Belgium, Canada, Chile, China, France, Germany, Hong Kong, Ireland, Israel, Japan, Mexico, Portugal, Norway, Spain, South Africa, Taiwan, the U.K., the U.S., and Venezuela).

Since 2006, CFF has highlighted some of the best emerging and independent voices, providing a platform for all filmmakers and creatives to connect with new and passionate audiences. CFF is excited to welcome back 35 alumni filmmakers as part of the 80 expected filmmakers in attendance, and will feature five Daily Talks open to the public for individuals to learn more about the film industry.

CFF will open with the highly anticipated Charlotte premiere of ROOFMAN on Tuesday,
Sept. 23, 2025, at the newly restored Carolina Theatre in Uptown. The ROOFMAN
screening will be immediately followed by an in-person discussion with Writer/Director
Derek Cianfrance (BLUE VALENTINE, THE PLACE BEYOND THE PINES) and Producer
Jaime Patricof.
