Charlotte was recently ranked by Fortune Magazine as one of the top ten cities in America for beer lovers. The Queen City now has dozens of local craft breweries, and it seems like a new one is opening every week.
The rankings were based on feedback from a nationwide poll of beer experts and connoisseurs – they asked people throughout the industry, “from brewers to hop farmers – to get their take on areas that are showing a lot of potential.”
A total of seven Southern cities ended up ranking among the top 10, including Asheville, Atlanta, Nashville and Athens, Ga.
Fortune’s section about Charlotte states:
“Asheville may get all the attention, but it would be foolish to overlook Charlotte if you’re hunting for the next great beer. While there are still just a small number of brewers, that’s changing – and they’re winning major awards, like NoDa’s Hop Drop ‘N Roll, which took home a gold medal from the 2014 World Beer Cup. Other breweries to try include Birdsong and Sycamore Brewing.”
