Wells Fargo Announces Job Cuts in North Carolina Amid Office Closures

Wells Fargo will eliminate 194 jobs in North Carolina as part of a broader effort to reduce its national workforce and consolidate office space. The move follows similar layoffs announced this year in several other states, including Florida, Iowa, Oregon, and California.

According to a Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification (WARN) notice filed with the state, most of the affected positions are linked to the bank’s downtown operations. While the state database lists August 23 as the effective layoff date, 159 employees were informed this week. Others had already received 60-day notices dating back to April 1.

The new NC WARN notice also listed two additional companies planning local job cuts. Transaxle will lay off workers in Mecklenburg County on July 29, and FCR, LLC will cut 70 jobs in the same county on June 30, 2025.
