We included Bojangles because #1 they have some of the best fast-food fried chicken around and #2 the chain that’s quickly spreading across the country was founded and still has their headquarters right here in the Queen City.

A true North Tryon staple since 1978, The Chicken Box offers massive portions of chicken fried in their secret recipe of herbs, buttermilk, and spices. You also can’t beat their prices. You can get filled up on a couple pieces of chicken with a roll for about 2 dollars.

Right at the corner of South and East Blvd, inside of the Shell gas station, you’ll find some of the best fried chicken in Charlotte (at least for a gas station). It’s cooked up by a handful of southern ladies that know what they’re doing, especially when it comes to their spicy fried chicken – some consider this place the best kept secret in Charlotte.

Some would argue that Nana’s fried chicken actually tops Prices in the class of truly southern, deep-fried chicken, but I would have to disagree – it’s amazing, but not quite the most amazing.

The King’s Kitchen skillet-fries their chicken for a home-made feel with major culinary class. Owner Chef Jim Noble describes his food as being inspired by French cuisine with Southern style, including as many farm-to-table ingredients as possible.
