Many of Charlotte’s biggest malls, including SouthPark, Concord Mills, and Charlotte Premium Outlets are about to hold their annual “Better Than Tax-Free” weekend August 5-7th.
According to a recent press release, they’ll be giving shoppers extra discounts from participating stores like J. Crew and Steve Madden on back-to-school attire, accessories and more.
The special annual sale is an attempt by Simon Properties to keep shoppers from traveling to South Carolina to enjoy their tax free weekend (NC discountinued the tax-free weekend 3 years ago).
They are also running a contest to see who can post the best photo on social media. Shoppers can tag #tbtbts (Throw Back Thursday Back to Simon) for a chance to win Simon gift cards and a $5,000 shopping spree.

Carolina Premium Outlets will collect backpacks and school supplies from shoppers to benefit Mom & Pop Green Org.
