South Carolina Just Raised Their Gas Tax – Bringing Prices Closer To NC

Charlotte drivers now have 1 less reason to cross the border.

Yesterday, the state of South Carolina officially raised their gasoline tax 8.3%, from 24 cents up to 26 cents.

While this may not sound like much, it effectively makes both Carolinas much more competitive in their pricing.

According to the gas pricing website GasBuddy.com, the cheapest gas near Carowinds (which straddles the border), is $2.69, both in North Carolina, and in South Carolina:
