New Data: Gen Z Value On Homeownership Plummets

House hunting has become more like the hunger games in recent years due to historically low inventory and skyrocketing prices, and younger generations may be growing less committed to homeownership altogether. In ApartmentList.com’s latest report, Generational Attitudes on Homeownership, they found that members of Gen Z are roughly half as likely as Baby Boomers to say that homeownership is extremely important to their personal success.
Making matters worse, all generations expect homeownership to only become more difficult in the future with the younger generations seeing it move further out of their reach. Millennials, in particular, are the most pessimistic of any generation when it comes to their ability to make that dream a reality.
