North Carolina’s own Cook Out is about to throw their hat in the chicken war ring with the launch a new drive-through chicken concept called ‘Roo’s Chicken’.
The new concept will feature a drive-thru and will be open for breakfast, according to signage on the property.
It’s being built in a former KFC location at 1221 New Bern Avenue in Raleigh, sandwiched between a Bojangles, Church’s Chicken, and right next door to a Cook Out.
In 2020, the Cook Out team experimented with a similar concept named Taco Roo’s in Wilmington, but that location has since closed. The new Roo’s Chicken location was originally planned to be named Taco Roo’s, according to city permits, but the name was changed in February of this year to Roo’s Chicken.
Cook Out opened their first location in 1989 in Greensboro, North Carolina, and they’ve since grown to operate over 250 locations across the southeastern US.
We reached out to Cook Out for more information about Roo’s Chicken’s menu and any other possible locations, but they have not yet responded to our request.
What do you think about Cook Out’s new chicken concept?
