A multi-county high-speed police chase ending in several streets around Midtown Charlotte being shut down early this morning.

The incident began when the Kannapolis Police Department responded to a robbery report at a construction site. Upon arrival, officers witnessed the suspects fleeing in a large Penske box truck.

A high-speed police chase then ensued from Kannapolis, through Concord and Harrisburg, and into the heart of Charlotte.

To finally immobilize the truck, the Cabarrus County Sheriff’s Department deployed “stopsticks,” popping the truck’s tires. The pursuit continued at a reduced speed until the truck was brought to a stop on Charlottetowne Avenue in Charlotte at around 3 am this morning.

The suspects have since been detained and taken to the Cabarrus County Jail.

No injuries have yet been reported from the incident.
