7201

North Carolina’s 2018 fall colors are expected to be some of the brightest and most beautiful in years.

The average temperature this year is 53.14° degrees – 1.88 degrees above average, according to NOAA. The summer has also been fairly dry this year, and drier soils typically produce brighter fall colors in the mountains.

North Carolina’s peak season will start toward the beginning of October in the higher elevations and run until the end of October in the Piedmont.

According to SmokyMountains.com, colors should be at their peak around October 29th in the mountains and Nov. 5th in Charlotte;
