A global manufacturing company just announced plans to move their specialized aerospace operations in California and Georgia and to Charlotte as part of a major national consolidation effort.
H.B. Fuller announced it will transform its idle west Charlotte facility into a new Aerospace Manufacturing Center of Excellence designed to support growing demand across the aviation, defense, and space industries.
“The aerospace market demands consistency, precision and long-term commitment,” said João Magalhães, senior vice president, Engineering Adhesives in a press release. “This Manufacturing Center of Excellence brings together advanced infrastructure, deep technical expertise, and rigorous quality systems in one purpose-built operation, enabling customers to qualify new platforms with confidence and rely on H.B. Fuller across extended product lifecycles.”
The 46,000-square-foot facility at 3034 Horseshoe Lane sits near Charlotte Douglas International Airport and is expected to begin operations in early 2027.
The company is retrofitting the facility with:
- Specialized mixing and packaging equipment
- Aerospace manufacturing systems
- Product testing laboratories
- Validation and quality-control facilities
Once fully operational, the Charlotte site is expected to employ between 50 and 100 workers.
Company officials said Charlotte was selected because of its transportation infrastructure, skilled manufacturing workforce, and existing facility layout.
The project is part of H.B. Fuller’s larger “Project Quantum Leap” initiative focused on consolidating operations and investing in higher-growth industries.
The facility is also expected to pursue AS9100 certification and Nadcap accreditation, two of the aerospace industry’s top quality standards.
Founded in 1887, H.B. Fuller operates in 150 countries and reported approximately $3.5 billion in revenue during 2025.
