Gastonia’s New Baseball Team Sparks Excitement in Atlantic League

Gastonia has just unveiled their new minor league baseball team – the Gastonia Baseball Club.

The new team will be competing in the Atlantic League as a replacement for the financially troubled Honey Hunters. Led by Andy Kaufmann of Zawyer Sports and Entertainment, the new team promises to clear the debts owed by the Honey Hunters, including payments to workers and vendors.

The Honey Hunters’ financial difficulties, resulting in over $2.5 million in debt and their subsequent removal from the league, have led to legal disputes with the city over unpaid bills and the use of CaroMont Health Park for events to recoup losses. Despite these challenges, the Atlantic League is optimistic about the new team’s potential, with plans for a home game debut on April 25.

Brady Salisbury has been hired as the new team’s General Manager.

With a new team on the horizon and a commitment to community engagement and financial responsibility, Gastonia looks forward to reviving its baseball spirit in 2024.
