From Florida to North Carolina: State Legislators Hope to Woo Disney Theme Parks

2229

A new bill has just been introduced in the North Carolina Senate in an attempt to relocate Walt Disney World to the Tar Heel State.

The new “Mickey’s Freedom Restoration Act” bill (SB 594) would establish a committee dedicated to enticing The Walt Disney Company and its Florida theme parks to North Carolina.

Tensions between Walt Disney World and Florida governor Ron DeSantis have arisen due to the controversial “Parental Rights in Education” law, aka the “Don’t Say Gay” law.

According to Senator Michael K. Garrett, the new bill would “form a commission to identify ideal locations across North Carolina suitable for family theme parks. Additionally, SB594 instructs the commission to determine infrastructure investments required, and tax incentives needed to incentivize relocation”.

What do you think about the idea?
