On Thursday morning, an early 4th of July firework show caused a major detour around the Carowinds Blvd area.
According to the York County Sheriff’s Office, a fire started in a firework storage unit in the parking lot next to Fort Mill’s Davey Jones Firework Store.
The Sherriff’s department told drivers to avoid the area on Twitter;

The entire container was destroyed, but thankfully, no one was injured during the epic display;
NOTICE: To clarify this is not the actual store the fire was in containers outside the store. Carowinds Blvd from Hwy 51 to the I-77 Exit ramp is closed to traffic.
Please find an alternate route. #YCSONEWS #YOCONEWS#4thofjuly #IndepenceDay pic.twitter.com/hXo47RryBd— York County Sheriff (@YCSO_SC) July 4, 2019
Local Charlotte resident Michael Stechschulte was able to capture an incredible video of the display from his car;
