The Catawba Two Kings Casino in Kings Mountain reached a major milestone this week as crews placed the final steel beam atop the permanent structure, marking a key step toward its opening.

Despite cold rain and 50-degree temperatures, tribal leaders, elected officials, and community members gathered near I-85’s Exit 5 to celebrate. The beam—signed by Catawba Nation citizens and project partners—was lifted into place during the ceremony, symbolizing progress on the $1 billion casino and hotel project.

The first phase is expected to open this spring, replacing the temporary gaming facility that has operated for four years.

When fully completed in 2027, the 2-million-square-foot complex will feature 4,300 slot machines, 100 table games, 11 restaurants and bars, and 7,000 parking spaces.
