NFL officials have just announced that the New England Patriots have signed a new 1-year contract with former Carolina Panthers QB Cam Newton for $7.5 Million.
31-year-old Cam Newton, the former Panthers MVP, will now be competing to replace the legendary Tom Brady after Newton was released by the Panthers this past March.
NFL insider Adam Schefter made the announcement this evening on Twitter:
Former NFL MVP Cam Newton has reached agreement on a one-year, incentive-laden deal with the New England Patriots, league sources tell @mortreport and me.
Newton now will step into the mix to try to help replace former Patriots’ QB Tom Brady.
