Almost 1 Year Later – Huntersville’s Sprawling 270 Acre Crystal Lagoon Project Is Dead

Almost a year after we first reported on Huntersville’s ‘crystal lagoon’, the developer just announced the project is officially dead.

Jake Palio, who helped develop Bailey’s Glen in Cornelius and Symphony Park in Huntersville, originally purchased a 270 acre piece of farmland off highway 73 last year, and has been battling with the town of Huntersville to build a full-scale ‘crystal lagoon’ ever since.

Palio said he will no longer continue pursuing the project due to financial infeasibility and numerous attempts to comply with zoning regulations.

Crystal Lagoons have worked with builders around the world to bring tropical paradises some surprising locations using unique technology that creates turquoise lagoons with white sandy beaches, palm trees, and other tropical features.
