The NASCAR Hall of Fame officially begins a major multi-phase renovation project this week that will modernize key guest spaces, expand STEAM education opportunities and create more dynamic event experiences while remaining fully open throughout construction.
Since opening in 2010, the NASCAR Hall of Fame has welcomed millions of fans, families, students and visitors from around the world. As one of Charlotte’s most visited entertainment and cultural attractions, the Hall continues to play an important role in the city’s tourism economy, educational landscape and national visibility. The new project represents a major investment in the future of the Hall and its continued role as one of Charlotte’s premier visitor destinations.
“We’re incredibly excited to officially begin this transformational project,” said Winston Kelley, executive director of the NASCAR Hall of Fame. “The NASCAR Hall of Fame has always been about providing memorable experiences for all guests and honoring our sport’s past while inspiring future generations. These enhancements will help us create an even more engaging and memorable experience for our guests, expand educational opportunities for students and provide greater flexibility to host world-class events for years to come.”
The Hall will remain fully open throughout construction, with exhibits, artifacts and interactive experiences continuing uninterrupted for guests. The Gear Shop and Pit Stop Café will also remain open during construction, while field trips, group outings and private events will continue with flexible space accommodations.
The renovation project focuses on three major improvement areas, including:
- Modernized Public Spaces: Renovated entrance, café and Gear Shop designed to improve the overall guest experience and enhance their visibility and accessibility for guests
- Expanded STEAM Learning: Flexible classroom environments supporting year-round educational programming and scholarship-based initiatives and enhance learning experiences for all students
- Increased Event Flexibility: Reconfigured spaces designed to accommodate a broader range of corporate events, receptions, educational programs and community gatherings
Construction will take place in phases with anticipated completion in summer 2027. Throughout the project, all exhibits, artifacts and fan interactive experiences inside the Hall will remain open and accessible to guests.
