Wegmans has officially announced the opening date for its first Charlotte-area store, bringing the popular grocery chain to Ballantyne this fall.
The new 110,000-square-foot supermarket will open October 14 at 11550 North Community House Road in south Charlotte.
The store is expected to employ approximately 450 people, with most positions filled by local hires.
Hiring is now underway at Wegmans for full-time and part-time positions, including:
- Bakery and produce staff
- Overnight grocery workers
- Chefs and line cooks
- Culinary team members
- Entry-level management roles
Wegmans says full-time employees will receive paid training at existing stores in North Carolina’s Triangle region before opening day.
The Ballantyne location will feature many of the chain’s signature offerings, including sushi, pizza, chef-made salads, bakery items, seafood, deli selections, wine, and beer.

Construction on the long-awaited Charlotte-area store began last September and has generated significant excitement among local shoppers for months.
