A new Disney-themed development in North Carolina is aiming to turn everyday life into a fully immersive, story-driven experience—where neighborhoods, homes, and even social spaces are designed with the same attention to detail as a theme park.

The Walt Disney Company’s Storyliving division has just revealed new details about its upcoming Asteria community, a massive 4,000-home development just outside the Research Triangle. The project is expected to welcome its first residents in fall 2028, and it is being designed to blend residential living with Disney-style storytelling, themed environments, and curated experiences rarely seen in traditional neighborhoods.

At the center of the community will be the Second Star Club, a highly themed hub inspired by Peter Pan and other classic films. The name references the iconic “second star to the right,” and the entire space will feature layered storytelling, hidden character details, and immersive design elements throughout. The club will anchor a network of dining, wellness, and event spaces around a central gathering lawn known as Aster Green.

One of the most distinctive features is the Lost Key Cottage, a five-bedroom home designed to fully transport guests into the world of Never Land. Residents will be able to reserve the home for overnight stays, celebrations, and gatherings, with every room filled with whimsical, film-inspired details.

The club will also include a wide range of amenities designed for different age groups and lifestyles, including:

  • A two-story signature restaurant called Marquet Hall
  • An event pavilion known as Piedmont Proper
  • Creative studios with tools like laser engravers and fabric printers
  • A full wellness center with a lap pool and fitness spaces
  • A dedicated lodge and programming for residents 55+
  • Family and adult pools, playgrounds, and tennis and pickleball courts

Designers say the community will incorporate subtle references to classic Disney films like Beauty and the Beast, Alice in Wonderland, and Bambi, blending storytelling into everyday spaces.

In addition to the physical design, Disney plans to offer curated programming, including workshops, entertainment, fitness classes, and guided excursions aimed at building community and encouraging interaction.
