PSA Airlines has just officially opened their new headquarters here in Charlotte after a lengthy relocation process from Dayton, Ohio. The move brings hundreds of office-based aviation jobs closer to Charlotte Douglas International Airport and strengthens Charlotte’s role in American Airlines’ expansive network.

The headquarters sits at 2709 Water Ridge Parkway, about five miles from Charlotte Douglas and near American’s Charlotte Flight Training Center. PSA expects more than 450 employees to be based at the new office once staffing is complete. That total includes about 150 relocations from Dayton, roughly 50 employees already in Charlotte, and about 250 new hires. PSA says more than 80% of those new positions are already filled.

“We are looking forward to starting our journey in Charlotte in earnest. Our relocators, many of whom were so excited to be here that they moved early, love it here. The talent we’re infusing from the local market is top-notch, and there’s an abundance of it,” said PSA CEO Dion Flannery in a press release. “Because of what Charlotte offers, PSA has a stronger foundation for continued growth. And we believe the benefit will be mutual, as the region will continue having reliable aviation partners, a top employer and a responsible corporate citizen headquartered in its backyard.”

The relocation also adds a unique credential for the region. PSA says it is now the only Part 121 passenger airline headquartered in North Carolina. Importantly, PSA says the move did not rely on state or local incentives.

For Charlotte, the headquarters builds on the city’s growing aviation cluster around the airport. PSA flies an average of more than 730 daily departures across its system, including about 130 out of Charlotte Douglas. Those flights feed American’s hub operations and connect Charlotte to more than 100 markets, including parts of Canada and the Caribbean.
