Tepper Sports & Entertainment has just announced they will start the $800 million renovations at Bank of America Stadium later this month after the upcoming playoff game against the LA Rams.
The first phase of renovations will focus on mechanical, electrical, plumbing (MEP). Later phases will add new seating, broader accessibility, upgraded restrooms, and enhanced safety and security features. The renovations are now scheduled to run in phases planned between the NFL and MLS seasons through 2030.
Charlotte City Council approved a $650 million public contribution in a 7–3 vote in June 2024. The city plans to use existing hospitality and tourism-tax revenues, which state law restricts to tourism-related spending.
Tepper Sports is contributing $150 million up front and says it will fund cost overruns and longer-term capital improvements. The organization also cites $117 million already spent on upgrades since David Tepper bought the team.
In addition to the stadium itself, Tepper Sports is also planning to build a new stand-alone 4,400-seat indoor music venue beside the stadium’s north gate.
The project will keep the Panthers and Charlotte FC in Uptown through 2044.
