More Than 367,000 Pounds of South Carolina Bacon Recalled Over Major Listeria Contamination

Kraft Heinz Foods Company has recalled more than 367,800 pounds of Oscar Mayer turkey bacon produced in South Carolina due to potential listeria contamination, according to the U.S. Department of Agriculture. The possible contamination with Listeria monocytogenes was discovered during routine laboratory testing.

Listeria can cause severe infections, especially in older adults, pregnant women, newborns, and people with weakened immune systems. Symptoms may include fever, muscle aches, confusion, gastrointestinal issues, and in pregnant women, complications such as miscarriage or stillbirth.

The recalled products include:

  • 12-ounce packs: UPC 071871548601, lot code RS40, use-by dates from July 18 to August 2, 2025

  • 36-ounce packs (3×12 oz): UPC 071871548748, lot codes RS19, RS40, RS42, use-by dates from July 23 to September 4, 2025

  • 48-ounce packs (4×12 oz): UPC 071871548793, lot codes RS19, RS40, RS42, use-by dates from July 18 to September 4, 2025

According to the USDA, “The products subject to recall bear the USDA mark of inspection on the front of the label. These items were shipped to retail locations nationwide and some were exported to the British Virgin Islands and Hong Kong.”

Kraft Heinz urges consumers not to eat products with listeria in it, even if cooked properly.
