Amazon Planning To Build $10 Billion A.I. Facility Between Charlotte and Raleigh

Amazon just announced plans to invest $10 billion in a new cloud computing and artificial intelligence campus in Richmond County, sandwiched between Charlotte and Raleigh.

The development will be one of the largest economic investments in state history and will significantly strengthen North Carolina’s growing role in tech infrastructure.

“Amazon’s $10 billion investment in North Carolina underscores our commitment to driving innovation and advancing the future of cloud computing and AI technologies,” said David Zapolsky, Amazon’s Chief Global Affairs and Legal Officer in a press release“This investment will position North Carolina as a hub for cutting-edge technology, create hundreds of high-skilled jobs, and drive significant economic growth. We look forward to partnering with state and local leaders, local suppliers, and educational institutions to nurture the next generation of talent.”

The new cloud computing and artificial intelligence innovation campus will house servers, data storage systems, and advanced networking equipment that power cloud-based services and generative AI tools. It’s expected to create at least 500 high-paying technology jobs focused on cloud computing, data storage, and AI innovation.

Construction timelines and hiring details have not yet been announced.
