Charlotte’s long-awaited first Wegmans store has just announced a hiring spree in anticipation of their upcoming grand opening.
The Ballantyne store, located at 11550 North Community House Road, broke ground in September and is expected to open in Q3 of 2026, though an exact date has not been announced.
Wegmans plans to employ about 450 people, with most positions filled by local hires new to the company. Full-time applicants can apply online at jobs.wegmans.com or call 980-467-7333. Interviews are by appointment only, and applications are not accepted at the construction site.
Open positions range from entry-level management to bakery, produce, overnight grocery, and culinary roles, including chefs and line cooks. All full-time hires will begin paid training at Wegmans stores in North Carolina’s Triangle region. Part-time hiring will begin later. The company is famous for it’s competitive pay, premium Sunday and holiday wages, flexible schedules, and tuition assistance through its employee scholarship program. Wegmans also emphasizes internal promotion.
“We’re looking to hire friendly people who are passionate about food and ready to grow their career with us,” said Store Manager Patrick McGuinness, who began his Wegmans career 26 years ago. “We onboard new employees quickly and provide them with comprehensive training in customer service and product knowledge; qualities that distinguish our stores from competition.”
The 110,000-square-foot supermarket will feature thousands of organic options, prepared foods, and a wide selection of ingredients at consistent prices.
Wegmans operates 114 stores along the East Coast and employs more than 54,000 people nationwide. The Ballantyne location represents the company’s first store in Charlotte and a major investment in the city’s growing retail landscape.
