The Carolinas Have Among The Highest New Business Application rates in America

New research has named the states the most interested in starting a business, with North Carolina ranking eighteenth and South Carolina ranking eleventh overall.

The study, conducted by Skyline Social, analyzed U.S. Census Bureau data over the past year, comparing population increased to the number of business applications in each state.

According to the findings, North Carolina saw 1,533 new business applications per 100,000 residents, and South Carolina saw 1,627 new applications per 100,000 residents. 

North Carolina recorded a total of 166,102 business applications across the period analyzed for the study. October was the most popular month to start a business, with 14,896 business applications, compared to April, which had the fewest at 13,312.

Wyoming tops the ranking, with 10,328 business applications per 100,000 residents – 510% above the national average of 1,693 business applications per 100,000 people.
