A developing storm system in the South is set to bring severe weather to the Charlotte region.
Originating from the Southwest, the massive system has already caused widespread damage across Alabama, Mississippi, and Georgia.
Charlotte meteorologists are now bracing for heavy thunderstorms and potential severe conditions by Thursday afternoon, with risks of rotating thunderstorms, flash flooding, and potential tornadoes.
Duke Energy even emailed an alert to all Charlotte area customers this morning warning of possible power outages across our region.
They recommend having the following items handy in case of a power outage;
- Cash (ATMs may not work)
- Car charger for cell phones and other devices
- Clean drinking water (recommended 1 gallon per person per day, minimum three days)
- Flashlights
- Batteries: Extra batteries for all of your devices
- Weather radio/clock
- Non-perishable food
- First aid kit
Please stay safe out there!
