Over 108,000 South Carolina residents had their personal information exposed in a data breach involving 700Credit, a company used by dealerships nationwide to process auto financing, according to the S.C. Department of Consumer Affairs.

The company discovered suspicious activity in its web application on October 25, 2025, and an investigation later confirmed that unauthorized actors copied records containing names, addresses, dates of birth, and Social Security numbers. So far, 700Credit says there is no evidence the stolen data has been misused, but the severity of the breach prompted immediate notification to state officials.

700Credit is offering affected residents free credit monitoring through Cyberscout, and encourages people to watch their accounts and check their credit reports for unusual activity. Impacted South Carolinians will receive enrollment instructions directly from the company.

The company is urging anyone with additional questions to call 833-586-1820, Monday through Friday, from 8 am – 6pm Eastern.
