Carolina Waterfowl Rescue (CWR) reported an unusual event this week when a rescued timber rattlesnake gave birth to a two-headed offspring, a condition known as polycephaly. Venomous timber rattlesnakes are often found around Charlotte, but a two-headed birth is extremely rare.
The mother snake, named Athena, is part of an endangered species. While the two-headed newborn did not survive, four siblings remain healthy.
In India, a 2 headed snake being born is a very significant sign, representing a fork in the road for a town or city.
According to Kavya, the birth of a 2-headed snake “embodies the conflict arising from opposing viewpoints, representing the struggle between contradictory perspectives”.
Some are now speculating about the coincidence of extremely rare 2-headed snake birth with Charlotte’s current challenges, including the recent fatal stabbing on the light rail and the upcoming mayoral election.
