North Carolina’s LGC Approves $387 Million In New Debt For Mecklenburg County

North Carolina’s Local Government Commission (LGC) has just approved $387 million in new debt for Mecklenburg County’s for public safety, education, recreation, and bond refinancing projects.

The county plans to allocate $252 million in limited obligation bonds for constructing and renovating municipal facilities, including the Sheriff’s Office, detention center, libraries, and parks. Another $45 million in general obligation bonds will fund solid waste facility upgrades.

Additionally, Mecklenburg County will refinance up to $90 million in bonds, saving over $1.8 million in interest.
