Today, the NC State Highway Patrol and local police departments across the state officially launched the 2024 “Speed Wrecks Lives” anti-speeding campaign.

The new campaign urges drivers to slow down, buckle up, and avoid driving distracted or impaired. Law enforcement will increase patrols in all 100 NC counties now through July 26 to target speeding and distracted drivers.

This effort is part of the Vision Zero initiative, aiming to eliminate traffic fatalities and severe injuries while promoting safe mobility. Vision Zero emphasizes shared responsibility in preventing road deaths, considering factors like road design and driver behavior.
