NC Museum of History Asking For Public’s Help For Future Exhibits

175

The North Carolina Museum of History is holding an open forum in Greenville, inviting the public to influence future exhibits. The discussion will focus on key themes such as North Carolina’s uniqueness, important historical figures, and significant community changes over time. Attendees will have the chance to offer advice on how their community’s history should be represented in the museum.

As part of the NC Department of Natural and Cultural Resources, the museum preserves over 150,000 artifacts and draws thousands of visitors each year. The feedback gathered will help shape more inclusive and accurate exhibits. In 2023, the museum had more than 355,000 visitors, reflecting its role as a vital cultural hub.

This initiative emphasizes public engagement, seeking to better represent North Carolina’s diverse history and forge deeper connections with communities across the state. As a Smithsonian Affiliate, the museum strives to enhance its exhibits with input from residents, ensuring that they resonate with a wider audience.
