A massive explosion just occurred near Lake Norman that completely leveled a 6,535 square foot home located at 292 Barber Loop in Mooresville.
Dominion Energy and Iredell County emergency crews quickly responded following numerous reports of an explosion. According to Iredell County EMS, one individual was immediately transported to the hospital, as confirmed by Iredell County emergency authorities.
The explosion, which occurred close to midnight, prompted responses from various agencies. The incident took place at a house situated between Barber Loop and Old Arborway Road, near Brawley School Road. Upon their arrival, Iredell County Sheriff’s Office deputies noted a strong odor of natural gas at the location. Hazmat teams were promptly summoned to handle the scene. On Tuesday morning, first responders were sifting through the extensive debris where the large residence once stood. The cause of the explosion remains under investigation.
According to county records, the home at 292 Barber Loop was sold for $2,050,000 on 5/31/22.
Iredell County officials and Dominion Energy are still investigating the exact cause of the explosion.
