
Fort Mill School District has just been ranked as the top school district in the Carolinas yet again in Niche’s 2026 Best Schools and Districts in America rankings.
Out of over 11,000 school districts, Fort Mill landed in the top 1% nationally, placing #91 of 10,394 – it also claimed #1 district status in South Carolina and ranked #1 in the Charlotte region — ahead of Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools, which placed #7 regionally.
Niche’s rankings cover more than 93,000 public schools, 30,000 private schools, and 11,000 districts. They allow families to compare districts and schools across academics, extracurriculars, geography, and specialized programs.
