Election Day Updates: Polling Hours and Results Timeline for NC & SC

Voters across the Carolinas are heading to the polls today as Election Day begins. Polling places opened at 6:30 a.m. in North Carolina and at 7 a.m. in South Carolina, and will remain open until 7:30 p.m. and 7 p.m. respectively.

Voters who are in line when polls close will still be allowed to cast their ballots. Election results will start being tabulated shortly after polls close, with preliminary results expected between 9:30 p.m. and 11:30 p.m. tonight, and final results certified in the days following.

In North Carolina, results will be reported in real-time on NCSBE.gov.

In South Carolina, results will be reported in real-time on scVOTES.gov, with final certification by the South Carolina Board of Canvassers set for Nov. 14.

North Carolina’s process follows a similar timeline, with final canvassing occurring 10 days after Election Day to ensure all votes are accurately counted.
