Daimler Truck Financial Services USA (DTFS) will relocate its U.S. headquarters to Charlotte, creating 276 new jobs and investing more than $7.8 million in Mecklenburg County.

“Charlotte is the second largest banking center in the United States,” said Commerce Secretary Lee Lilley in a press release. “Daimler Truck knows the proximity to its existing manufacturing operations, combined with our excellent business climate and thriving financial sector, makes North Carolina the best place to grow and expand.”

The financial arm of Daimler Truck North America will consolidate offices from Michigan and Texas into a 60,000-square-foot Charlotte facility. The move will house administration, HR, and financial operations. DTFS finances Freightliner and Western Star trucks, as well as Thomas Built Buses.

“We’re thrilled to establish our new headquarters in the Ballantyne area—this move marks a pivotal step in aligning our team closer to DTNA and advancing our strategy for long-term services growth,” said Kevin Bangston, president and CEO of Daimler Truck Financial Services.

New jobs will average $133,940 annually—well above the county’s $86,830 average—and generate a projected $36.9 million in payroll impact.

A state-approved Job Development Investment Grant (JDIG) will support the move, potentially reimbursing up to $4.17 million over 12 years. The project is expected to grow North Carolina’s economy by $1.08 billion, with a projected $2.19 return for every $1 of public investment.
