CLT Airport Breaks Ground On New $1 Billion Runway

The Charlotte Douglas International Airport has just broken ground on its 4th major runway, which will cost just over $1 billion to complete.

“This is a special day for the City of Charlotte as we break ground on a new runway at our growing Airport,” said Charlotte Mayor Vi Lyles in a press release. “As one of the busiest airports in the world, CLT is a top economic driver for the State of North Carolina and this new runway will increase our operational productivity enabling additional flights while reducing our carbon footprint.”

According to the airport, the airports new 4th 10,000-foot-long, 150-foot-wide runway will allow for 20 additional arrivals / departures in 2028 and 32 in 2033.
