Charlotte’s McColl Center Kicking Off 25th Anniversary Celebrations

271

Uptown Charlotte’s McColl Center is celebrating 25 years of artistic innovation, creativity, and community impact. Since our opening in 1999, the center has grown from an artist residency program into a vibrant hub for artists, collectors, and art enthusiasts, both locally and globally.

Since opening our doors in September 1999, McColl Center has grown from an artist
residency program into a vibrant arts hub that fosters creativity, collaboration, and artistic
development. What began with nine resident artists setting up their studios at McColl
Center, exploring ideas, building artistic practices, and making art, has evolved into a
dynamic institution offering space, resources, and support to more than 500 artists from
around the globe and countless more within Charlotte.

The upcoming cornerstone events marking their 25th milestone include:

  • The Ties that Bind — An Exhibition by photographer Mitchell Kearney, featuring images of McColl Center artists-in-residence from 1999 to 2008. Opening celebration November 14,2024
  • Benefit Art Auction 2025, taking place on Saturday, February 22, 2025, where the Charlotte arts community will gather to celebrate and support the next generation of artists.

In addition to these events, the center will continue to spotlight inspiring stories of artists, supporters, and community members who have been impacted by their experiences with McColl Center.
